After studying international business in Boston, she discovered a deep desire for art. She sought after this passion and took drawing courses before applying and being accepted into New York Parsons in 2003, where a glamorous journey to become “one of the most talented young designers in the Turkish fashion sector” began.

As a self-taught fashion designer, Salihoglu expertized her skills in art of dressmaking by working with many well-known labels such as Jill Stuart, Alessandro dell’Acqua, Oxford Collections, Hussein Chalayan and Via Malaura Paris.

After heightening her sense of fabrics, intricate details and fine embroideries, it was time for her to define her own fairytale and give life to the poetic woman by launching her first atelier in Istanbul in 2007.

2006: Won first place at the design contest of ‘House of Dercon’, the fashion label privately owned by the singer Beyoncé.

2007: Graduated from Parsons School of Design and awarded a showing of her thesis collection at the ‘Urban Interludes’ exhibition of the Felisimo Gallery in New York.

2008: Launched her own private label and opened her first boutique/showroom in Bebek district of İstanbul.

2009: Prepared a special collection for Bilstore: ‘begumsalihoglu for Bilstore’

2010: Attended the ‘Who’s Next Dubai’ fair and sold collections in Dubai, Kuwait,Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

2011: Nominee, Young Designer of the Year: Elle Style Awards.

2011: Collaborated with Roman, a major Turkish ready-to-wear brand, and prepared evening dress collections under the name of “Begum Salihoglu for Roman” for Fall’11 and Spring’12

2014: Mercedes Benz Istanbul Fashion Show, Exibition of ‘Poetic Wilderness’ couture collection.

2015: Attended Paris Vendome Luxury fair.

2017: Attended Barcelona Bridal Week and sold her bridal collections in Hong Kong and Tokyo.
